Getting Started

It is sometimes hard to know where to start. Since 1888, families have trusted Shelburne Memorials to provide quality memorials of lasting beauty with creative designs that covey the originality and unique qualities of their loved ones.

Selecting a memorial can be a very difficult and emotional quest. At Shelburne Memorials we understand this and therefore offer personal appointments that can be done in the privacy of your own home or the relaxed atmosphere of our showroom. We listen, take our time and urge our clients to consider all their options before choosing a quality, resonably-priced monument that will be a source of comfort for years to come.

All monuments or markers, regardless of size, can be personalized with laser etchings, lettering and designs depicting family history, fraternal or religious insignias, emblems, poems - whatever you choose to make a monument more meaningful to you and your family.

The best way to answer all of your questions is to visit a showroom and let our trained professionals help guide, explain and inform you of all the necessary things to consider when purchasing a monument. Our website lists all locations, including address and phone numbers.

However, here are a few things to consider when getting started:

1.) Cemetery Regulations. What cemetery will the monument or marker be placed? Some cemetery’s have specific requirements. For help with cemetery requirements, call us at (519) 925-3036) and we can assist and inform you of those regulations in your area.

2.) Select Granite Colour. We import granite from all over the world and offer a beautiful selection to choose from. Different granite colours vary in price. Click here to view some sample colours.

3.) Type and style of monument. Are you looking for an upright Single or Double Monument, Hickey, Flat Marker or Slope/Slant Marker? Click to view the different types of monuments available.

4.) Design Elements. A Layout should include Family name and dates. Perhaps a family saying or religious verse, personal elements that are important such as portraits, scenes, hobbies or symbols all can be engraved or etched onto your monument. Click here to view some different layouts.
